X-PO: 2089 Cyber Revolution is a cancelled PlayStation and PC game by Kalisto Entertainment.
It was to be a 3D platformer combining traditional gameplay with history lessons

Plot

The year is 2089.
You play as Koji and must defend the Internet from an evil entity.

Gameplay

As you travel through the levels you will find relics of the past.
These relics will tell you about their history, mostly French history.

Development

Kalisto, a French development house, were working close with Japanese publishers like NEC.
The game was created to strengthen the cultural bond between France and Japan.
It was being released in 1999, the Year of France in Japan

Cancellation

X-PO: 2089 Cyber Revolution was cancelled By Sony in 1999 due to a lack on interest.
Kalisto couldn't publish it due to the dot com bubble bursting, ruining their plans.
NEC distributed the game for free in magazines, making it a very rare collector's item.
