Trinity: The Shatter Effect is a cancelled Xbox, GameCube, and PC game by Gray Matter.
It is a FPS game in which you can manipulate space-time.

Plot

Set in the New Orleans in 2013, the world is in trouble.
A plague is sweeping across the city.
It is up to you, a genetically-enhanced hero called a Nightstalker to stop it.

Gameplay

The Nightstalker's augmentations would offer many advantages.
You could do a super jump, Flash-Time for slow-motion, and a super kick.
There were four modes of vision, which range from X-ray vision to being able to spot structural weaknesses to destroy.

The game would evolve as you play: you gain powers, but the AI adapts to counter your powers.
Rather than health pickups, you would have to hide and regenerate health which takes time.

Cancellation

In late 2003, Activision reported a net loss of $10.1 million for its second quarter.
This caused them to stop production of 10 games.
Trinity: The Shatter Effect was one of them.

Timeline

  • April 25th 2003: game officially announced.
  • November 7th, 2003: game cancelled.
