Stung! is a cancelled PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC game from Prey Digital Studios.
It is a insect-themed third-person shooting game.

Plot

You are a genetically-enhanced insects were created during the Cold War.
These insects were to be spies, carry viruses, and help win the war.
The government cut down on costs, ending the project.

The insects rebelled, and waged war on humanity.
Some of them stole the formula that turns regular bugs into super enhanced bugs.
Scientists have created you and your comrades to retrieve the formula from the rogue bugs.

Gameplay

Stung! is a shooter game in which you play as six different insects.
You must fight your way through attics, waiting rooms, and the like.
There are 12 levels, each with 3 sub-levels.

You must kill gun-wielding bugs whilst avoiding obstacles like spider webs, bug spray, and flypaper.
You can switch between first-person and third-person perspective on the fly.

Different characters control differently.
Some can fly and thus find secret powerups and weapons and get to vantage points.
Some have superior firepower for close combat situations.

Multiplayer was also on the table.
There was to be deathmatches and team matches.
Instead of Capture the Flag it was to be Capture the Flea.

Development

Stung was first developed for PC, with PS2 and Xbox ports once they launched.
There were possible plans for comics, toys, even an animated series.

Cancellation

Stung! was cancelled in 2002 when Prey Digital Studios became defunct.
No publisher was interested in the game.
