Name: Spanish Blood
Developer: Scavenger
Systems: PS1, Saturn, PC
Due date: 1997

Spanish Blood is a cancelled PlayStation, Saturn, and PC game from Scavenger.
It was to be a 3D action adventure set on the seven seas.

Gameplay

You would pilot a Spanish galleon throughout the ocean, hunting for other ships and vessels.
Your ship was neutral until you hoisted the Jolly Roger, which them enabled you to board ships.
Once boarded the game would switch to a fighting game between yourself and the enemy ship's crew.

Development

The game used the Alone in the Dark engine.

Cancellation

Spanish Blood was cancelled in 1997 to save on costs.
Scavenger signed a deal with GT Interactive in April 1996 to produce games.
They had taken on too many projects. Spanish Blood, an ambitious but likely not fun game, was cancelled to fulfill the contract.

GT Interactive failed to pay, so a lawsuit was launched.
Scavenger closed down in 1997 due to debt.
Even though Scavenger won the lawsuit and got almost $2 million, it was too late.
