Systems: PS1
Due date: 1997

Sorcery is a cancelled PlayStation game by Sony Interactive Studios America (SISA).
It was to be an arena fighter version of Magic: The Gathering.

Gameplay

Being inspired by Magic: The Gathering, there would be familiar concepts.
You could play as different classes, each with unique spells and stats.
These spells included summonings of creatures, as well as ways to locate the opponent.

Development

The original concept for the game was like a battle royale but 1v1.
The game would be split screen. You and your opponent would run around setting traps.
Slowly the arena would shrink down to a single screen.

The designers decided to reduce the game down to the simplistic 1v1 fighting action.

Cancellation

Sorcery was cancelled after two years of work due to the crowded fighting game market.
