Kanaan
Name: | Kanaan |
Developer: | Argonaut Games |
Systems: | PS1, PC |
Due date: | Q4 1998, then early 1999 |
Kanaan is a cancelled PS1 and PC game by Argonaut Games.
It was to be a FPS game on an alien world.
Plot
You would play as Agent Gabriel Cain, the only human on an alien world.
The Kanaan, the canine-like natives, aim to defend their homeland from you.
Later on you'll join an underground resistance to take down Commander Kray, the antagonist.
Gameplay
The game was going to be big and expansive, ground-breaking in the way Half Life was.
There would be vehicles to drive, like tanks, trucks, jeeps, planes, and jets.
There would a multitude of weapons, from shotguns to snipers.
Development
Chaos was its original project name.
The game started development in 1996 and was an on-off project.
Argonaut Games kept getting distracted with other titles, like Croc and Buck Bumble.
Cancellation
Kanaan was finally cancelled in early 2000.
This could possibly be because of the launch of the PS2.
Ubisoft put the game on hold before its unceremonious cancellation.
