Gladiator: The Crimson Reign is a cancelled PS2 and Xbox game from Midway.
It was to be a realistic historically accurate arena fighting game.

Gameplay

There were to be arenas in 31 locations, such as Pompeii, Athens, Babylon and Alexandria.
To win you will need to don weapons such as axes, daggers, swords and shields, 47 in total.
You would even fight creatures of Greek mythology.

Cancellation

Midway Games West, Inc, closed its doors in mid 2003, taking this game to the grave.
In 2004 Midway's other studios tried to work on the game but canned it as well.
Apparently the market was saturated with similar types of games.
