Due date: 2001

Fallen Age is a cancelled PC MMORPG game by Netamin.
It was to be part Real Time Strategy, part hack and slash action game.

Plot

The game is set in the year 6415 A.D. on planet Earth.
Either that or 6400 A.D. or 6200 A.D., that date kept shifting during development.
The world was destroyed by Thothan.

During this conflict, Siam, the first emperor of Earth, secretly took action.
From an underground fortress, Siam collected the best genes from his empire.
After the dust settled the survivors emerged, using those glorious genes to rebuild humanity.

Your task is to defeat Thothan and find a new emperor for Earth.

Gameplay

The aim of the game is to build up your empire and conquer others.
Creating your base would be turn-based and combat will be real-time.
When you log off the AI defends your colony for you.

Every player begins their character with a plot of land.
You cannot gain access to this land until you reach level 30 and do a quest.
Once you do that you can build upon it with barracks, schools, banks, and laboratories.

As you gain experience points you can either them on levelling skills or buying new skills.
The currency of the game is Juno.

There was to be three races and six sub-classes as you level up.

Races
Fighter Melee focused
Shaman Faith-based buffs
Chakra Magic focused

Upgrading your equipment is like Diablo II: collect gems and socket them in equipment.
Blacksmiths can upgrade gems for a fee.
There were plans for over 10,000 items to use, and they all decay with use.

There was to be 126 unique skills and spells, each with their own visual effects.
Spells could be cast using ESP points, another name for mana points.

Your stats are levelled with paying experience points.
You could reach up to level 600: 500 normal levels plus 100 research levels.

Stats
Strength Damage done to melee weapons and weight carry limit
Dexterity Aiming bonus and stamina
Sinew Defense from melee attacks and HP
Wisdom Defense from magic attacks, bonus to spells
Bless Bonus to healing and defensive/support spells
Concentration Bonus to damage done by offensive spells
Aid Bonus to melee accuracy and dodging melee attacks

Death has no penalty up until level 30.
Once you die at level 30+, you lose 0-70% of gold or 0-25% of unspent exp.
Known PKers (ones that get reported 3 times as PKing) lose 100% of gold and exp upon death.

PvP was on the table but you can only engage in it once you hit level 30.
There is no penalty for death by a PKer, but PKers have penalties if reported as such.
Known PKers will spend 30 minutes in jail after death and loss of honour points.

Killing players lowers honour points regardless if they report you for killing them.
The less honour points you have, the more likely natural disaster will befall your colony.
These disasters include floods, fire, earthquakes, and more.

Development

In May 2001 the very first ban was implemented on a guy named Rathpig.
Apparently he was Pking, which despite being allowed by the rules he was nevertheless banned.

Cancellation

In July 2001 development was suspended due to issues with Netamin's Korean partners.
The servers were kept up a little longer before being shut down.
The forums still saw activity until early 2002 and the website was shuttered.
