Name: Big Brother
Developer: Newspeak
Systems: PC
Due date: late 1998, then Q1 1999, then mid-999

Big Brother is a cancelled PC game by Newspeak for the publisher Media-X.
It was an adventure game based on the classic novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Plot

The plot revolves around Eric's quest to free your fiancee Emma from the Ministry of Love.
You would meet various characters on your quest: some in a resistance, some working against you.
Your job was to join the "Hacker Underground" and take down Big Brother.

It was to be a sequel of sorts to the original novel.
The game was to have over twelve levels.

Cancellation

Although the game seemed to be getting along, the game was cancelled in early 1999.
The trademark for the game was abandoned circa April 1999.
The reason for this is that Media-X lost the licensing rights.

The developers, Newspeak, aimed to get the game published.
The game however was never published, however. It is unknown how far in the game ever got.
Newspeak itself likely went out of business soon after.
